Buck Lake is home to the following native fish varieties:
- Largemouth bass
- Smallmouth bass
- Northern pike
- Yellow perch
- Crappie
- Sunfish
- Lake trout

During the late 1970s or early 1980s, splake (a mostly non-reproducing hybrid of male speckled and female lake trouts) were introduced to the lake by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR), apparently in an effort to reduce the adverse effects of fishing on the native lake trout population. It is unknown if more recent additions have been made to this population, but unless that is the case, the last splake would have vanished from Buck Lake over a decade ago.
